Lee Jae-wook is taking on a fresh acting challenge his first-ever dual role in the upcoming KBS2 weekend mini-series Last Summer, set to premiere on November 1 at 9:20 PM KST.
On October 23, the production team unveiled still cuts of Lee as twin brothers Baek Do-ha and Baek Do-young, raising anticipation for how the actor will distinguish between the two characters in this emotionally layered romance.
Last Summer is a romance drama that follows a man and woman who have been childhood friends as they confront long-hidden feelings and the truth of a first love locked away like Pandora’s box.

Lee plays both younger brother Do-ha, known for his friendly demeanor and easygoing personality, and elder twin Do-young, a stargazer with a more introspective side. Although identical in appearance and deeply caring toward each other, the twins’ lives take different paths due to their parents’ divorce.
Do-ha grows up in the U.S. with their mother, while Do-young stays in Korea with their father, living in a small duplex built with his father’s close friend Song Ji-cheol (played by Jeon Hee-tae). Over the years, Do-young becomes close friends with Ji-cheol’s daughter Song Ha-kyung (played by Choi Sung-eun).
Each summer, Do-ha returns to Korea, and the three friends create cherished memories together. However, as time passes, Do-young realizes that Ha-kyung’s heart is gradually leaning toward Do-ha, prompting him to make a painful decision to preserve their friendship.

To portray the emotional contrast between the brothers, Lee Jae-wook engaged in in-depth discussions with director Min Yeon-hong. Lee shared, “I approached Do-ha and Do-young with the core difference being their perspectives one optimistic, the other more idealistic.”
Director Min added, “The goal was to create a subtle yet clear distinction between two brothers who seem alike but are fundamentally different.”
With its nostalgic yet heartfelt premise and Lee Jae-wook’s anticipated performance, Last Summer is poised to be a standout romantic drama this fall.
