According to QQ, Kwong Wa has recently been spotted working at tourist attractions alongside other middle-aged former stars such as Lam Chun Hin and Cheng Kwok Lam. Their current situations have sparked sympathy among the public, with many commenting, “Time is a cruel blade that no one can escape.”

Kwong Wa rose to fame through numerous hit TVB dramas, including Journey to the West, A Step into the Past, The Conqueror’s Story, The Legend of Lady Yang, and The King of Yesterday and Tomorrow. His portrayals of historical and legendary figures such as Lao Ai, Xiang Yu, Emperor Xuanzong, Yongzheng, and Qianlong earned him wide acclaim and cemented his reputation as one of Hong Kong television’s leading men.
However, his downfall began after a scandal involving actress Sheren Tang. Despite being married to singer Kitman Mak, Kwong Wa pursued Sheren Tang during their collaboration on I Have a Date with Spring, even living together for a time. He reportedly told her his marriage was over and promised to divorce his wife to be with her.

When Sheren Tang later discovered that Kwong Wa had not kept his promise, she was devastated to learn she had been cast as “the other woman.” The situation worsened when Kwong Wa accused Sheren Tang of seducing him, while his wife publicly defended him and criticized Sheren Tang for breaking up their marriage. In response, Sheren Tang held a press conference to denounce the couple and even threatened to take them to court to defend her reputation.
After the scandal, Kwong Wa’s career came to a standstill. Unable to find acting work, he turned to selling insurance and later began working at tourist attractions, dressing as ancient emperors or scholars to take photos with visitors.

According to QQ, the working conditions at these scenic sites are far from glamorous. Performers often have to work outdoors in thick costumes under scorching heat. Actor Cheng Kwok Lam once shared a video showing his back drenched in sweat after a day’s work, explaining that while the pay and prestige can’t compare to his acting days, he continues to do the job to support his family.
Kwong Wa’s story serves as a sobering reminder of how fleeting fame can be in the entertainment world — and how some former stars must adapt to survive, even if it means trading the spotlight for a humble living.
