Held on October 11, the Korea Drama Awards one of South Korea’s most prestigious television drama ceremonies recognized Our Movie for its artistic excellence, defying earlier labels of being a “flop” due to its modest ratings.
The drama follows the poignant love story between Je Ha (played by Namkoong Min), a film director burdened by trauma, and Da Eum (played by Jeon Yeo Been), an actress living her final day. The series delicately explores themes of loss, artistic passion, and the courage to face life’s final moments. Its heartfelt storytelling and emotional depth resonated strongly with a dedicated core audience.

Although Our Movie initially drew attention for its underwhelming 4% viewership and sparked debate over Jeon Yeo Been’s acting transformation, critics and audiences alike began to change their minds as the series progressed. The cast’s nuanced performances and director Lee Jung Heum’s emotional, lingering direction ultimately silenced doubts and garnered widespread critical acclaim.
CEO Jung Ah Reum of the drama production company Beyond J stated, “This year has been filled with powerful dramas. Our Movie was like a small firefly among them a quiet light that shone beautifully. I’m deeply grateful to director Lee Jung Heum for bringing that light to life on screen.”

Director Lee Jung Heum also reflected on the honor: “Through this project, I realized how meaningful it is to create dramas that touch people’s hearts. I believe this award recognizes that joy. I hope all creators here continue to make stories that bring happiness to viewers.”
Once dismissed as a ratings failure, Our Movie has now solidified its place as one of the year’s most artistically celebrated Korean dramas—proving that true quality transcends numbers.
