Popular South Korean actor Song Kang was discharged from the military on October 1, completing his mandatory 18-month service in the Army. He served diligently since enlisting in April 2024 and was released from his base in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province earlier today.

Known for his loyal fanbase and impressive filmography, Song quietly completed his duty and returned to civilian life without any fan event or ceremony, opting instead for a low-key transition.

During his service, Song made a surprise appearance in the Ministry of National Defense’s public campaign video for the “Defense Help Call” program. He also made headlines after photos surfaced of him with BTS’s V during their shared time in the military.

Even while enlisted, his works remained in the spotlight. Notably, he reprised his lead role as Cha Hyun Soo in Sweet Home Season 3, one of Netflix Korea‘s most highly anticipated releases. He also made a special appearance in the film The Escape.

Now that he’s discharged, attention is turning to Song Kang’s return to acting. His agency, Namoo Actors, confirmed earlier this year that he is considering a role in the upcoming drama “Four Hands”, a youth-focused story set in an arts high school. However, no official comeback project has been finalized yet.

Since his debut in The Liar and His Lover (2017), Song has built a reputation for emotionally resonant roles in hits like Love Alarm, Nevertheless, My Demon, and the Sweet Home series. His performances have solidified his status as one of Netflix Korea’s top-tier male leads.

With his return, fans are eager to see what direction his career will take next. Will he continue his reign as a Netflix favorite, or surprise audiences with a fresh genre or platform?

As the industry welcomes back one of its most talked-about talents, all eyes are on Song Kang’s next move.
