KBS2’s new daily drama A Graceful Liar has kicked off with a bang, recording 8.2% nationwide ratings for its premiere episode on September 22, according to Nielsen Korea. This made it the No.1 program in its time slot across all channels, signaling the arrival of a new daily drama sensation.

The first episode introduced Cha Jung-won (played by Lee Si-ah), a young woman burdened by her painful past. Abandoned by her mother and stigmatized as the daughter of a “murderer,” Jung-won faces discrimination and repeated job rejections. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she reunites with high school friend Joo Young-chae (Lee Hyo-na).

Drawn into Young-chae’s glamorous world, Jung-won begins to impersonate her, tasting a life of wealth and status for the first time. A tense encounter with Han Hye-ra (Lee Il-hwa), the woman tied to her mother’s past, sets the stage for a dramatic conflict.

The premiere episode was filled with gripping moments, including flashbacks to Jung-won’s childhood trauma, her struggles as an adult, and a rain-soaked confrontation with Hye-ra that ended in a chilling cliffhanger.

With its fast-paced storytelling, emotional intensity, and strong cast performances, A Graceful Liar has already captured viewers’ attention.

The series tells the story of a mother and daughter-in-law locked in a war of lies as they fight for control of the powerful Gunhyang family — a mix of family melodrama, revenge, and deception.

With such a strong start, A Graceful Liar is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about daily dramas of the season.
