This fall, Netflix will unveil a new original series that blends female-centered storytelling, emotional depth, and a retro aesthetic. On September 12, the platform is set to premiere You and Everything Else, directed by Jo Young-min, known for Do You Like Brahms? and The Interest of Love, with a script penned by acclaimed writer Song Hye-jin of The Smile Has Left Your Eyes and My Sweet Seoul.

At the press conference held on September 5 in Seoul, only the two leading actresses Kim Go-eun and Park Ji-hyun took the stage, underscoring the drama’s exclusive focus on women’s narratives. Kim plays Ryu Eun-jung, while Park takes on the role of Cheon Sang-yeon. The story follows their complex relationship over decades, from their first meeting at age 11, through college years and early adulthood, into their 40s. Misunderstandings, rivalry, envy, and eventually reconciliation shape their journey.
In their forties, the narrative reaches a poignant climax: Sang-yeon, diagnosed with a terminal illness, asks Eun-jung to accompany her to Switzerland for assisted dying, sparking a profound exploration of empathy, forgiveness, and acceptance.

Although Kim Gun-woo appears as Eun-jung’s college boyfriend, the focus remains firmly on the two women. Rather than romance, the drama emphasizes friendship, admiration, conflict, and human connection. With meticulous attention to period detail, the show moves through the 1990s to the 2020s, capturing the look, feel, and cultural atmosphere of each era.
During the press event, Kim Go-eun admitted, “At first, I worried the script was too quiet, but as I kept reading, I found myself completely immersed in its depth.”

Arriving two days after Disney+ launches Tempest, starring Jun Ji-hyun and Kang Dong-won, You and Everything Else is positioned as one of the most anticipated Korean dramas of fall 2025. Viewers are waiting to see if its mix of female narrative, assisted-dying themes, and nostalgic retro style will resonate as strongly as its buzz suggests.
