In a video uploaded on August 21 by Vogue Korea titled “Kim Hye-soo’s First What’s In My Bag — The Keyring She Loves More Than ‘La Boum’?”, the veteran actress participated in the trending “What’s In My Bag” segment for the very first time since her debut.
Among the contents of her well-used 20-year-old pouch were items like hair ties, hand sanitizer, olive oil, and bamboo salt. Kim shared, “I drink bamboo salt mixed with water on set. It’s part of my health routine.”
One item that caught special attention was a scarf. Kim pulled it out and casually said, “I always carry a scarf. I can’t do my own hair at all, so I just tie it up in a ponytail or wrap it like a bandana. It’s so convenient. If it’s black, it goes with any outfit.”
But it was what she said next that surprised fans the most. She revealed the origin of her headscarf habit: “I began during the filming of ‘Smugglers.’ Toward the end of filming, I was injured during an underwater scene. I collided with a camera rig and got a really big scar on my forehead. At first, I wore the scarf just to cover the wound, but then I realized I didn’t even need to style my hair, and it was comfortable. Luckily, in recent years, headscarves have even become trendy.”
Kim’s fans have long admired her sophisticated yet bold style choices, and now the personal story behind one of her signature looks has added a layer of emotional depth to her fashion.
Among other memorable items in her bag was a bottle of vitamins with the face of PD Ahn Tae-jin from Signal 2. Laughing, Kim said, “It was his birthday during filming, and one of the assistant directors loved him so much they made vitamins with his face on them. I thought it was so cute, so I kept one. I’ll probably carry it around even after filming ended.”
When asked to choose only three essentials, she picked her script, phone, and wallet—but couldn’t resist adding the PD’s vitamin bottle as a “bonus” item. “Please let me add this as a side pick. I really love it. You can feel how much the staff love their director and mentor, and that sentiment is so beautiful. I’ll keep it forever,” she said. She even noted how she sometimes stores the vitamin bottle in the fridge during hot days and puts it back in her bag afterward.
