On the August 20 episode of tvN’s hit variety show You Quiz on the Block, Kim Tae-hee opened up about a terrifying moment from her high school days—one that could have ended much worse if not for the quick response of her younger brother, actor Lee Wan.
The emotional revelation came during a heartwarming segment where co-host Jo Se-ho shared a past memory involving Lee Wan.
“I once asked him, ‘Is your sister at home?’ and he immediately got defensive, replying, ‘Why?’ When I said it was just a question, he still answered, ‘I don’t know.’ It was clear he was determined to protect his sister no matter what,” Jo recounted, drawing laughter from the studio.
Kim Tae-hee then recalled a chilling incident that happened during her high school years:
“I used to finish my academy classes late at night, around 10 p.m. One evening, I felt someone walking behind me. When I glanced sideways, I saw it was a man. I thought, ‘It should be fine,’ and got into the elevator.”
However, things took a dark turn.
“He turned out to be unstable and started acting strangely. When the elevator reached the 7th floor, where my home was, he suddenly lunged at me. I screamed, rushed out, and rang the doorbell. The moment I pressed it, my younger brother ran out instantly. It wasn’t like he was waiting by the door—he just reacted immediately. The man fled down the stairs, and my brother even chased after him.”
Despite the years that have passed, the actress admitted that the memory remains vivid:
“It was really terrifying. I still remember the fear from that moment.”
Lee Wan’s instinctive bravery and unwavering protection of his sister left a lasting impression on viewers. Known for his own acting career, Lee Wan has often flown under the radar compared to his famous sister. But moments like these reveal the strong sibling bond and protective instincts that run deep in their family.
