Actor Yang Se-jong has addressed the concerns and discussions surrounding his appearance at the press conference for drama Low Life, revealing that injuries and physical strain were behind the change in his looks.

At the July press event, Yang Se-jong appeared in an all-black outfit with a permed hairstyle. However, it was his visibly swollen face and fuller figure that drew attention online, sparking widespread speculation and concern over his condition.

In a recent interview marking the end of the drama’s run, Yang Se-jong opened up about the circumstances at the time. “I had gained about 6 to 7 kilograms for the role,” he stated. “But what really affected me was the injury — my ankle didn’t just crack, it snapped completely.”

He revealed that his ankle had broken twice, once after returning from a trip to Europe and Hawaii post-filming. “I went to two different hospitals, but they couldn’t identify the exact cause. They suspect it was a stress fracture,” he said. “My ankle looked like an elephant’s foot.”

Still receiving injections as part of his treatment, Yang Se-jong confessed that he hasn’t fully recovered yet. “When it broke a second time, I started to feel really down,” he said, acknowledging the emotional toll of the injury. “The photos from the press conference show a very swollen face, and while it was my responsibility, there really was nothing I could do at the time.”

Despite the challenges, Yang Se-jong shared that he is now on the mend. “My bones have more or less fused back together,” he noted with relief. “I’m exercising again and feeling happy. I’ve even started jogging slowly.”
