The cast of the highly anticipated supernatural comedy Pretty Crazy gathered on August 6 at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul for a press screening and shared their heartfelt reactions after watching the completed film for the first time.
Starring Girls’ Generation’s Im YoonA and Ahn Bo-hyun, Pretty Crazy follows the quirky yet touching story of an unemployed man named Gil-goo who is hired to watch over a mysterious woman, Sun-ji, who transforms into a devil every night.
Reflecting on her role, YoonA said:
“Watching the film today brought back so many memories from the shoot. I was excited to see it, and the emotions I felt through my character Sun-ji were even more intense than I had remembered. I’m truly grateful to the director. The other actors did an amazing job, and I think our chemistry really shone thanks to their performances.”
Co-star Ahn Bo-hyun shared that he was emotionally impacted by one of YoonA’s scenes, saying:
“As I reminisced while watching, I was struck by how this film, crafted in Director Lee Sang-geun’s unique style, came together. There’s a scene where YoonA wipes away her tears, and I almost cried just watching her. The film is warm and touching — I really enjoyed it.”
Joo Hyun-young, who plays a supporting role, also praised the film’s storytelling:
“Seeing the big picture of the director’s vision was so fascinating. Since I wasn’t present during the scenes that built Sun-ji and Gil-goo’s backstory, I didn’t fully grasp it at the time. But watching the film, I was genuinely moved.”
Directed by Lee Sang-geun, known for the hit action-comedy Exit, Pretty Crazy blends supernatural elements with humor and emotional depth. With YoonA taking on a bold, dual-natured character and Ahn Bo-hyun showcasing both comedic and sincere moments, the film promises a fresh take on genre-blending K-cinema.
Pretty Crazy premieres in theaters on August 13, and early buzz from the press screening suggests the film could be one of the standout Korean comedies of the year.
