On August 7, BigHit Music launched official SNS channels for the group and revealed their team name. CORTIS is an acronym derived irregularly from the phrase “COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES,” symbolizing the group’s philosophy to think freely beyond societal rules and constraints.
The group comprises five teenage members Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, and Keonho who embody youthful freshness and exceptional creative abilities. They position themselves as a young creator crew, crafting music, choreography, and videos collaboratively without being confined to fixed roles.
Before their debut, CORTIS members have already proven their talents by working with senior labelmates at BigHit Music. Martin received songwriting credits for TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s new song Beautiful Strangers while James collaborated on tracks like Deja Vu and Miracle, also contributing to the choreography of Deja Vu, showcasing his performance skills.
With creative participation and collaborative experiences with senior artists under their belts, CORTIS is set to make their mark on August 18. Their mission is to expand the boundaries of K-pop with new creative expressions, filling the space outside the lines with their unique color.
Also, on August 7, CORTIS has officially launched their global fan community on Weverse.
This new five-member group represents BigHit Music’s first boy band debut in six years, drawing attention to how these young artists will innovate and impact the K-pop scene.
