In a candid interview held on August 5 at Blitzway Entertainment’s office in Gangnam, Seoul, Kim spoke about her role in the recently concluded OTT drama Bitch x Rich 2, where she played the powerful and calculating high school queen Baek Jena.

The drama, a psychological thriller blending elite school politics with youthful romance, earned Kim praise for her charismatic portrayal. When asked how her Red Velvet bandmates responded to the show, she said with a laugh, “They all said they really enjoyed it. Some even texted me. Though I don’t think they watched the whole thing… they still said they liked it!”

Kim is among several Red Velvet members who have begun new chapters with different agencies. While she moved to Blitzway to pursue acting, Wendy joined Ascendio, and Irene and Joy renewed their contracts with SM Entertainment. Despite the changes, the group maintains a strong bond.

“We’ve had a lot of conversations as a group — about our goals and the direction each of us wants to take. I think the spirit of mutual support has naturally formed between us,” Kim shared.

Although there are currently no concrete plans for group promotions, she added, “If our schedules align, I definitely want to promote as Red Velvet again and release new music.”

Now signed to Blitzway Entertainment, Kim praised the care and attentiveness of her new team: “The staff at Blitzway are more detail-oriented than I am. They take care of me so well. Even when I forget something, they’re already on top of it. Thanks to them, I’ve adjusted quickly.”

The decision to leave SM was largely driven by her growing ambition as an actress. “One of the main reasons I switched agencies was because I want to act more. I want to learn on set and grow through experience. I want to be in a lot of projects,” she said.

With a standout role in Bitch x Rich 2 and a supportive new agency behind her, Kim Ye-rim is clearly stepping confidently into her next chapter — one that shines just as brightly on screen as it did on stage.
