On July 21, Son Ye-jin took to her social media, writing: “No Other Choices. There’s no way not to be excited. Park Chan-wook is handsome. Lee Byung-hun is the best. Son Ye-jin is in it.” She also shared several behind-the-scenes stills from the film.
No Other Choices marks Son Ye-jin’s first project since marrying actor Hyun Bin in 2022. The movie tells the story of Mansu, a man who seemingly had it all until he’s suddenly laid off. Determined to protect his wife Miri, their two children, and the home they worked hard to afford, Mansu sets off on a desperate and personal journey toward reemployment.
Directed by Park Chan-wook, the film stars Lee Byung-hun as Mansu and Son Ye-jin as his wife, Miri. The cast also includes Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yum Hye-ran, and Cha Seung-won.
Many fellow actors showed their support for Son Ye-jin’s return to acting, including Uhm Ji-won and Song Yoon-ah. In particular, Lee Min-jung—who is married to Lee Byung-hun—left a witty comment: “Son Ye-jin’s beauty truly can’t be helped,” playing on the film’s title in Korean.
No Other Choices is slated for release this September.
