The inheritance of late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu has once again become the center of public attention after her mother revealed that she had not received any portion of her daughter’s estate. In response to the growing controversy, Hsu’s ex-husband Wang Xiaofei has released an official statement through his legal representatives.
According to Taiwanese media outlets, including ETtoday, reports published on July 8 (local time) claimed that Wang Xiaofei has been paying the mortgage on the Taipei home where Barbie Hsu lived before her passing, while her husband Koo Jun Yup reportedly has no intention of inheriting the property.
The controversy intensified after Barbie Hsu’s mother publicly stated that she had not inherited any of her daughter’s estate, saying, “I’m facing the possibility of being forced out of the home that I bought with money I worked hard to earn.” Her remarks quickly sparked widespread discussion, prompting Wang Xiaofei to issue a five-point statement through his attorney.

According to the statement, Wang has petitioned the court to appoint a special legal representative to protect the rights of his two minor children. A court-appointed attorney is currently handling the legal procedures related to the division of the estate.
Regarding the inheritance itself, Wang’s lawyer explained that, under the law, two-thirds of Barbie Hsu’s estate belongs to the couple’s two minor children. Wang has established a dedicated trust account to manage those inherited assets on their behalf.
The statement also addressed Koo Jun Yup’s inheritance, noting that the remaining one-third of the estate legally belongs to him. Wang emphasized that he fully respects however Koo chooses to manage his share.

As for the mortgage on Barbie Hsu’s former residence, Wang’s legal team stated that he continues to assist with the mortgage payments associated with the portion tied to his children’s interests. They also denied reports suggesting that the property is at risk of being auctioned, calling such claims false.
The statement further responded to Barbie Hsu’s mother’s claim that she could be forced to leave the home. Wang’s side stressed that he supports her continuing to live there and stated that he has never asked her to move out.
In addition, Wang’s lawyer criticized inaccurate media reports and online rumors, saying they have caused unnecessary pain to the family. The public was urged to refrain from spreading speculation surrounding the case.

Looking ahead, Wang Xiaofei stated that all future decisions regarding the inheritance, asset management, and living arrangements for the children will prioritize the best interests of his two minor children.
Barbie Hsu passed away in February last year at the age of 48 after developing acute pneumonia caused by influenza while traveling in Japan with her family, shocking fans across Asia.
The actress married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011, and the couple had a daughter and a son before divorcing in 2021. In 2022, she remarried South Korean singer Koo Jun Yup, whom she had originally dated in the late 1990s. Following her sudden passing, Koo remained near her resting place to mourn her and later commissioned a memorial statue in her honor.
