Actor Kim Soo Hyun is officially returning to the entertainment industry after a hiatus of approximately 15 months. As he prepares to resume his activities, his fan community has also announced a meaningful charity campaign in support of his comeback.
On July 9, Kim Soo Hyun’s fan club revealed through its official account that it is organizing a donation fundraiser to celebrate both the actor’s 19th debut anniversary and his long-awaited return to work.
In its statement, the fan community said, “We hope Kim Soo Hyun’s shining 19th anniversary brings warmth and kindness to the world.” The funds raised will be used to purchase products from a clothing brand endorsed by the actor, with the items later donated to underprivileged children in South Korea.
The fans added, “We hope this donation made in Kim Soo Hyun’s name will bring comfort and warmth to those in need. We appreciate everyone’s participation.”
Kim Soo Hyun’s career was unexpectedly interrupted in March last year after YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute and several individuals publicly disclosed allegations regarding his private life. The actor’s agency immediately denied the claims and pursued legal action over the spread of false information and defamation.
Following months of legal proceedings, the Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant in May for Kim Se Ui, the head of Garosero Research Institute, citing concerns over the destruction of evidence and the risk of flight. He is currently being held in custody while legal proceedings continue.
Having largely restored his reputation after the lengthy legal battle, Kim Soo Hyun is now preparing to officially resume his career. His first scheduled activity will be a print advertising campaign for global fashion brand BENCH on July 14.
His agency, Gold Medalist, stated that the advertisement shoot will mark the beginning of the actor’s gradual return, with additional activities to be announced in the coming months.
Since news of his comeback was released, fans have continued to show their support through online voting events and charitable initiatives. Meanwhile, the release schedule for Kim Soo Hyun’s completed Disney+ original series Knock-Off, which he selected as his next project before the hiatus, is still under discussion and has yet to be officially confirmed.
