On October 6th, the 2024 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards took place at the Busan Cinema Center.
The 2024 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards, now in its sixth year, started in 2019, initially focusing on Asian content but expanded globally in 2023. The event celebrates excellence in TV, OTT, and online video content worldwide.
This year, 201 works from 16 countries were submitted, and 41 works from 10 countries were nominated across 11 categories, chosen by an international jury. One notable new category was the “People’s Choice Award,” where fans voted for the most loved actor in the OTT field. Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, the stars of “Lovely Runner”, won this award but couldn’t attend the ceremony. They expressed their gratitude through video messages.
Byun Woo-seok apologized for his absence due to prior commitments and thanked the fans for their support, saying, “I would like to thank the entire ‘Lovely Runner’ team for helping me shine as Seon-jae. Also, I will never forget the meaning and weight of this award, which was given to me through the efforts and votes of fans. I will always keep in mind the warm support and love you always give me, and I will strive to repay you with better acting. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, Kim Hye-yoon said, “I am greeting you through a video like this due to scheduling conflicts. I sincerely thank all the fans who helped me win the People’s Choice Award. I will work to become an actress who will show you more diverse sides of myself and acting in the future. Thank you.”
On the other hand, Chae Jong-hyeop, who won Best Newcomer Actor, shared, “I’m happy just to be here at such a meaningful event, but I’m honored to receive an award. I feel like I have mixed emotions. I think it was thanks to the hard work of the ‘Eye Love You’ team that I was able to receive this award, but it was also thanks to everyone who loved the drama. I want to express my sincere gratitude. I will continue to work hard and show you a better side of myself.”
Kim Yo-han, who shared the same prize, expressed, “To my grandmother in heaven who named me. I will work hard as an actor under this name. Thank you. And to my parents who are here. At first, when I told them I was going to start acting, they weren’t very happy, but now they support me. I want to thank them. I also want to thank the director who believed in me and entrusted me with the role, and Woo-sik hyung, Seok-gu hyung, and Hee-jun sunbaenim who took good care of me when I was a troublemaker on set. I will always be an actor Kim Yo-han who acts happily.”
Meanwhile, Ahn Jae-hong, who secured best Supporting Actor, said, “I think it will remain a great emotion to be able to host the opening ceremony of a film festival that I have admired since I was young, and to receive such an honorable award.”
Yeom Hye-ran, the winner of Best Supporting Actress, shared, ““I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the many people I met through ‘Mask Girl,’ the proud staff, the great actors who worked with me, and the director. Lastly, I will remember actress Park Ji-ah, who told me I was a blessed actress while she was alive, and I pray that she rests in peace in heaven. Stay healthy, everyone,”
