On October 5, Lawyer Choi Yu-na confirmed the divorce rumors, stating, “The couple was unable to overcome their differences, and after a period of separation, they agreed to divorce. They have filed for divorce mediation at the Seoul Family Court.”
Breaking her silence, Jiyeon also released an official statement, saying, “I apologize for delivering unfortunate news. We have mutually agreed to undergo divorce mediation. I ask for your understanding for not addressing this issue sooner.”
Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Gyun tied the knot in December 2022. The couple previously shared their newlywed life through Jiyeon’s YouTube channel, and Jiyeon often publicly supported her husband by watching his games in person.
