“Culinary Class Wars” Seonkyoung Longest Receives Praise from Baek Jong Won for Texture Focus in Unreleased Video

A 1-on-1 cooking battle video featuring Seonkyoung Longest, a contestant and cooking YouTuber from Netflix’s cooking competition show "Culinary Class Wars", has been released

Recently, Netflix shared an unreleased 1-on-1 battle video from “Culinary Class Wars” through YouTube.

In the video, Seonkyoung Longest from the “White Spoon” team competes against God of Seasoning from the “Black Spoon” team, using bone-in pork sirloin as the main ingredient.

Seonkyoung Longest prepared bone-in pork sirloin paella, explaining, “My main goal was to infuse the traditional Spanish dish ‘paella’ with Korean flavors.

Seonkyoung Longest paid special attention to the texture of the dish, adding, “I roasted the pork skin at a high temperature to create a crackling, crunchy texture.

God of Seasoning, on the other hand, made a spicy, sweet and sour bone-in pork sirloin dish, cutting the top loin portion and cooking it in a pan.

The tasting session followed, with judges Baek Jong Won and Ahn Sung Jae evaluating the dishes. After tasting Seonkyoung Longest’s dish, Ahn commented, “It’s spicy, sweet and sour.” Baek Jong Won added, “You didn’t make it simple. It’s not boring.”

However, when tasting God of Seasoning’s dish, Baek Jong Won spat out the tough meat into a napkin and said, “Who cut this? Is there a part of the loin that’s this tough? It seems like you cut the part connected to the bone, which made it tough.

In the end, Seonkyoung Longest emerged as the winner of the battle. Baek Jong Won praised her focus on texture, saying, “I think it’s a brilliant idea. It has such a nice crunch when you take a bite.”

Seonkyoung Longest has been facing extreme hate comments following the show’s release on Sep 24th. In the 6th episode of “Culinary Class Wars” that was released at that time, Seonkyoung Longest teamed up with Choi Kang Rok, Cho Eun Ju, Jung Ji Sun and Hwang Jin Seon from the White Spoon team.

At the time, Seonkyoung Longest and Choi Kang Rok disagreed on the direction of the dish. Seonkyoung Longest emphasized the importance of texture, saying, “There’s no texture.”

Netflix’s “Culinary Class Wars” Contestant Seonkyong Longest

After the episode aired, Seonkyoung Longest became the target of harsh criticism. She shared, “I have been continuously receiving hate comments. There are 8,000 comments on a single video. Can anyone justify this as not being cyberbullying?

Seonkyoung Longest previously won the U.S. cooking competition show “Restaurant Express” in 2013 and is currently active as both a chef and YouTuber.
