The Ending of “Black Out” Maintains the Core of the Original

Interest is growing in the film Black Out’s ending, which keeps the core of the original despite changes.

“Black Out” is a television series based on the German novel “Snow White Must Die” by Nele Neuhaus. The series revolves around Go Jung-woo (played by Byun Yo-han) who was previously convicted of murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison after being framed as the culprit in a mysterious murder case in which the body was never found.

In the final episode of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama “Black Out”, the identity of the culprit was revealed. It also portrayed Go Jung-woo being acquitted and returning to his normal life.

In this episode, Hyeon Gu-tak (played by Kwon Hae-hyo) appeared after hearing the voice of Hyeon Su-oh (played by Lee Ga-seop) mumbling to himself in a warehouse, then found Da-eun’s (played by Han So-eun) lifeless body. Distressed, Hyeon Gu-tak tried to cover up his son’s actions.

Meanwhile, Go Jung-woo arrived in the village and spotted Hyeon Su-oh wandering nearby. After confronting Hyeon Su-oh, Go Jung-woo headed toward the warehouse where Da-eun’s body was found.

Hyeon Gu-tak tried to justify himself, but in the end, he attacked Jung-woo and set fire to Da-eun’s body. Jung-woo rescued him before the flames took over.

Afterwards, Jung-woo’s innocence was proven in court, with the judge citing a lack of evidence, “The previous ruling is overturned. The plaintiff is found not guilty, and the verdict is made public.” The detective who is assigned to the case related to Jung-woo, Noh Sang-cheol (played by Ko Jun) congratulated and advised him to live a normal life.

Later, Jung-woo returned to medical school, walking around the campus and greeting Ha-seol (played by Kim Bo-ra). Alone by the seaside, Jung-woo reflected, “Dad, Bo-young, Da-eun, Geon-oh, please keep watching over me. Even now, watch how I live my life until the end. I miss you so much, and I love you.”

Besides, the final episode recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 8.8% and 8.2% in the metropolitan area, with the highest minute-by-minute rating reaching 9.1%. The nationwide rating broke its own record, achieving a successful conclusion (based on Nielsen Korea).

“Black Out” aired in 14 episodes, broadcast every Friday and Saturday night. Replays are available on Coupang Play and Wave.
