On the afternoon of September 24th, Soo-hyun (also known by her stage name Claudia Kim) attended the press screening of the movie “A Normal Family” held at CGV Yongsan in Seoul, where she appeared as the lead character. During the press conference following the screening, various discussions about the film took place.
In the film, Kim Soo-hyun plays a character who conflicts with Kim Hee-ae’s role. She explained, “Kim Hee-ae sunbaenim (senior) has such a powerful presence that it was hard to break through. The character ‘Ji-soo’ that I portrayed is a young mother who, when facing a more mature mother, realizes ‘Oh, so there are emotions like that,’ and starts to timidly express her own opinions. In the end, she strongly advocates for her beliefs.”
She added, “The director and the senior actors are all kings of detail. Filming wasn’t just hard work, it was fun. I always enjoyed going to the set,” expressing her satisfaction with the film and the environment on set. In this project, Soo-hyun was directed by Hur Jin-ho and worked alongside actors Seol Kyung-gu, Kim Hee-ae, and Jang Dong-gun.
It has been 5 years since Kim Soo-hyun last appeared in a film, following “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”. She shared, “I hope this film lingers in the viewers’ minds for a long time.”
On September 23rd, Kim Soo-hyun announced her divorce from Cha Min-geun, the former CEO of WeWork. The couple married in 2019 and had a daughter the following year.
