Recently, NewJeans members Hanni and Minji drew attention with their update on their group’s exclusive fan communication platform Phoning.
In particular, on September 18, it was noticed that Hanni and Minji’s Phoning accounts were both updated with the same emoji of a face laughing in satisfaction while covering the mouth.
As a result, many netizens start to have speculations about what this update could mean. As the emoji looks rather satisfied, many believe that the NewJeans members are likely feeling pleased about the outcome of their “battle” against HYBE.
Previously on September 11, NewJeans held a live broadcast where they explained their current status in HYBE and mentioned their fears about being ostracized and unprotected under the company in the future.
In the same broadcast, NewJeans also gave HYBE an “ultimatum” – demanding for Min Hee-jin to re-assume her position as the CEO of their agency – ADOR.
Now, with their update on Phoning, many fans believe that maybe NewJeans won in their battle with HYBE – either having been able to cancel their contract or get the above “ultimatum” satisfied.
