KARD’s BM’s Chilling Warning About Idols Goes Viral Amid Taeil’s Scandal

BM has revisited his comments made years ago

On August 28th, SM Entertainment announced the removal of NCT’s Taeil following allegations of an unspecified sexual crime.

Though few details about the incident have been confirmed, fans are expressing outrage, feeling that Taeil’s previously perceived image of being a quiet and kind person may have been misleading.

In the wake of this scandal, a video of KARD’s BM from DIVE Studios’ GET REAL podcast resurfaced, gaining significant attention. The hosts of the episode included BM, BTOB’s Peniel and LADIES’ CODE’s Ashley Choi.

The video, originally from Episode 16 titled “GIRL TALK with Joan Kim”, aired in 2020. During the conversation, the hosts discussed how rapidly the Korean entertainment industry is evolving.

Peniel mentioned the unrealistic expectations placed on idols, saying, “They have to be like goody two shoes, they have to be perfect… it’s like no one’s perfect.” BM followed up with a candid remark, warning listeners that their favorite idols might not be who they seem. He bluntly stated, “Some of you will be surprised. Your favorite stan, bias may not be who you think they are. Not trying to crush your dreams but just being real…

In light of Taeil’s recent controversy, this video went viral once again, amassing over 407,000 views on Instagram. Many netizens applauded BM for his honesty, acknowledging that his warning years ago now feels even more relevant.

BM himself noticed the renewed interest in the video and responded with a humble comment, reminding fans that idols are not perfect. He wrote, “I’m also not perfect… although I will try to be better human being, I have my days I lose it like the rest of everyone else. None of us ‘idols’ or ‘celebs’ are any better than anyone cuz we dance sing or rap in front of a camera just sayin. I got a lot to work on too.”

The original poster liked and pinned BM’s thoughtful comment, further emphasizing his message.
