Yoon Son-ha's Transition from Korean Star to Japanese Entertainment and Her Recent Move to Canada Amid Controversy

Debuting in the mid-1990s, Yoon Son-ha gained attention as a next-generation youth star with her pure image and beauty. However, in 2001, she abruptly ceased her activities in Korean broadcasting and ventured into the Japanese entertainment industry.

When Yoon Son-ha first entered Japan in 2001, she did not speak a word of Japanese, and there was significant concern about whether she could succeed in the Japanese entertainment industry as a newcomer at a relatively older age.

However, just two years into her Japanese career, Yoon Son-ha demonstrated her advanced Japanese language skills and impressive hosting abilities on the program Ame Talk, where she appeared alongside popular Japanese teen star Aya.

On September 16, 2006, Yoon Son-ha married Shin Jae-hyun, a businessman five years her senior, whom she met through singer Park Hye-kyung. The couple has one son and one daughter. After giving birth to her daughter, Yoon Son-ha decided to quit her Japanese activities to focus on parenting.

Following reports of a violent incident involving her son, Yoon Son-ha decided to immigrate to Canada to provide a normal school life for him. One of the assailants’ parents was Yoon Son-ha.

Yoon Son-ha faced criticism for her response to the news, which she claimed was distorted by SBS. Her statement, which focused more on excuses than an apology, faced backlash, leading her to issue a second official apology: “I bow my head and apologize to the injured child, their family, the school, and everyone else.”

Yoon Son-ha’s team has stated, “While it is possible to stay in Canada, it is too early to definitively say she has emigrated.”
