The cross-media content “Uma Musume Pretty Derby” has announced the TV anime adaptation of the manga “Uma Musume Cinderella Gray.” The anime is set to air in 2025, and comments from voice actress Tomoyo Takayanagi, who will voice the protagonist Oguri Cap, and the manga’s author, Taiyo Kuzumi, have been released.
“Uma Musume Pretty Derby” is a cross-media content series developed by Cygames. It depicts a world where “Uma Musume,” who inherit the names and spirits of real racehorses, aim to conquer the while living their school life with their friends and trainers. Since its release, the franchise has expanded into various genres, including games, anime, music, and manga. In May 2024, the movie “Uma Musume Pretty Derby: The New Era’s Door” was released and became a big hit.
Now, the manga “Uma Musume Cinderella Gray,” which features Oguri Cap as the protagonist and was serialized in Weekly Young Jump with over 6 million copies in circulation, is getting an anime adaptation. The manga is authored by Taiyo Kuzumi.
The story is set at the Kasamatsu Training School in a desolate rural area, where a single Uma Musume appears. Her name is Oguri Cap. Her overwhelming running ability defies all conventions. The girl, who will eventually be called a “monster,” is now engraving a new legend—a Cinderella story of youth “running” toward the future.
Along with the announcement, a teaser visual featuring the protagonist Oguri Cap and a teaser PV were released.
Additionally, a congratulatory illustration and comment from Taiyo Kuzumi, the manga’s author, have been received. Tomoyo Takayanagi, who plays the role of Oguri Cap, also expressed her enthusiasm: “I feel a great deal of pressure, but I will cherish the feelings and experiences of the past eight years that I’ve walked with Uma Musume’s Oguri Cap, and with a completely fresh mindset, I will do my best to portray Oguri Cap in ‘Uma Musume Cinderella Gray’!”
