2PM’s Jun. K Reveals Exercise Obsession and 10 Years of Insomnia Side Effects “I Lost My Health”

On August 22nd, a video titled “Jaefriends Ep. 49│2PM JUN. K Kim Jaejoong” was uploaded on the YouTube channel “Jaefriends”.

In the video, Jun.K, who appeared as a guest, responded to Kim Jaejoong’s question “When it comes to 2PM, you have the beast idol concept. While living with the beast idol concept… Honestly, it seems like you gained more… What did you lose?” by saying, “What do you call it? Showing muscles, right? Showing muscles, doing it for show. Exercising just for show. Back then, Men’s Health… The pressure to definitely shoot for it.”

He explained the group’s image, “All our members, except maybe one, shot for it. 2PM just has to have good bodies… So it kind of built that image.

Jun. K continued, “To the gym run by a friendly trainer… We’d break in early in the morning… Sacrificing sleep to work out. Looking back, it was really reckless and foolish. What I lost, in my opinion… I’ve been suffering from this for almost 10 years now. I’ve been suffering from insomnia for a long time. If I lay down on the bed, it takes a very long time to fall asleep. And after 2 or 3 hours, I keep waking up. After waking up, I can’t go back to sleep again.”

He confessed, “If I lost something, it’s health-related, I guess? I even cut salt for a month.” Kim Jaejoong reacted with surprise, “But going to that extent is what athletes do, honestly.

Jun. K explained, “That kind of pressure. The pressure that 2PM should have good bodies. And no one ever complained. They never said anything against maintaining it. To keep it up. It was hard to succeed, and debuting was also difficult. Back then, if we got attention… The members were really grateful for that. People think we all have great bodies. While the members truly encouraged each other to work out together. Being next to each other, we just worked out together.”

Hearing this, Kim Jaejoong recalled “Do you know we worked out too because of you guys? I thought you naturally had a great body. I was just trying to maintain my level. We came out with a concept to show our masculine side. But having even more macho beasts next to us…“, causing laughter.

Jun. K candidly admitted, “I’m not such a big person, you know? The beast idol thing doesn’t really suit my personality. Somehow, just hanging out with these bigger guys, I ended up looking big too.”
