On the August 19th broadcast of KBS Cool FM’s “Park Myung-soo‘s Radio Show”, Yoon Sung-ho, who has gained popularity as “NewJeansNim”, appeared as a guest.
Park Myung-soo introduced Yoon Sung-ho, “I was DJing at a water park in Hongcheon over the weekend. Today’s guest is NewJeansNim, who even released a new song.”
Park Myung-soo asked NewJeansNim, “You’ve been so busy lately that you’ve taken over many of my gigs. How busy are you these days?“
NewJeansNim responded, “I’ve been traveling a lot for musical missionary work. I even visited Hongcheon the week before you did. It was so hot that I nearly burned my fingers while handling the equipment. The gear was so hot that I thought an egg could cook on it.” He added humorously, “You recently went to the Busan Beer Festival, right? I also attended.“
When Park Myung-soo questioned how a monk could attend a beer festival, NewJeansNim replied, “I don’t drink; I just go to make sure everyone else has a good time.“
When asked if his name was inspired by girl group NewJeans, he initially denied it, saying, “My name means to move forward in a new way.” However, when asked if NewJeansNim would exist without NewJeans, he humorously admitted “Probably not“, adding that he’s been expecting complaints but figures they’re too busy to bother.
In the second part of the show, Yoon Sung-ho discussed his earnings, “NewJeansNim doesn’t make money because he’s all about non-possession, so I take it all. I only buy him bibimbap. My income is about two-thirds of Park Myung-soo’s.”
