BLACKPINK Reunited As Full Group For 8th Debut Anniversary + Jisoo “I Was Worried ‘What If I Look Like A Mess?'”

On August 8th, BLACKPINK held a live broadcast on the fan community platform Weverse.

During the live, the members wore conical hats and greeted fans as a whole, saying, “Hello, we are BLACKPINK.” Jisoo said, “It’s our 8th anniversary today, August 8th. We gathered after a long time to greet BLINKs.” Jennie expressed her happiness, saying, “It’s been so long.” As the members smoothly carried on with the broadcast, Rosé playfully commented, “You guys are doing so well. I’m just freezing up here.”

The BLACKPINK members celebrated their 8th debut anniversary by lighting candles on a cake and singing a celebratory song together.

Jisoo, who appeared without makeup, shared “Honestly, I was really nervous coming here. I was worried, ‘What if I look like a mess while everyone else looks like princesses?’ Then Jennie called me and asked, ‘Are you going to look like a mess today?’ When she said she would, I thought, ‘It’s fine if two out of the four of us look like a mess.’ But when Jennie and I saw Lisa and Rosé, we said, ‘They look like princesses’“, causing laughter as she recounted their conversation before the broadcast.

Lisa added “I thought everyone would dress in black and pink. I even wore sleep pants“, referring to the group’s signature colors. Jennie responded, “I didn’t even know what to wear.”

The members continued chatting while enjoying the cake. At one point, Lisa asked, “Our BLINKs aren’t too bored, right? We’re just eating cake.” Jisoo joked, “No, our BLINKs said they’re happy just to see us doing nothing. So, we’ll just stay still.“

Lisa reminisced, “The last time we did a live together was in a small room at the company.” Jisoo recalled, “We couldn’t do a full-group live for our 7th anniversary either.”

Fans were thrilled by the surprise live broadcast, commenting, “It’s so nice to see them together“, “Looking forward to a group comeback“, “Happy 8th anniversary, BLACKPINK“, “They all look so beautiful” and “It’s great to see them balancing solo and group activities.“

BLACKPINK debuted on August 8th, 2016 with the double title tracks “Whistle” and “BOOMBAYAH”. With their second full album “Born Pink” released in 2022, they topped both the U.S. Billboard 200 and the U.K. Official Albums Chart Top 100, solidifying their status as a leading K-pop girl group.

Last December, BLACKPINK renewed their group contract with YG Entertainment, while their solo activities are being managed individually. Jennie established her independent label ODDATELIER, Lisa set up her label LLOUD, Jisoo launched her own label BLISSOO, and Rosé signed an exclusive contract with The Black Label.

As a full group, BLACKPINK will hold a private fan signing event on August 8th to celebrate their 8th debut anniversary. The following day, they will attend the press conference for the movie “BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] IN CINEMAS” at Times Square in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul.
