Recently, a documentary of LE SSERAFIM was released on HYBE’s official YouTube channel. In the documentary, a scene of LE SSERAFIM’s Sakura crying over overwhelming pressure and burden was included.
In this scene, Sakura said, “I’m scared to raise my voice in front of people”, adding, “I don’t know why I chose to be an idol. Did I really need to? It’s not that choosing to be an idol was the wrong choice, but I wonder if being an idol is truly the job I excel at. Sometimes when I make mistakes or feel my limitations, I think that others who are good at it could have done it instead of me.”

Unfortunately, Sakura’s remarks were not met with sympathy but with criticisms, as netizens left comments like “Nobody forced her to be an idol”, “She has years of experienced and yet does not take lessons”, “Of course an idol would be criticized if they do not know how to sing”, and “She would have been less scared if she took vocal lessons and practiced properly”.
Additionally, many people also start to compare Sakura to aespa’s Ningning, bringing up a past interview of the latter. Particularly, in an interview back in 2023, Ningning revealed that the longest she has practiced was 12 hours, and that she doesn’t find it to be tough since it’s her job.
Ningning’s strong response is met with praise, especially compared to Sakura’s breakdown and lack of improvement, and a Tweet comparing the two have even surpassed 42,000 likes and 2 million views on SNS platform X.
However, some people still defend Sakura, pointing out that Sakura never complained about the hours, but instead was just expressing her emotions after receiving hatred.
