Psy Canceled Concert Right On The Spot But Fans Are Still Touched Because Of This Reason

Fans are complimenting Psy's quick response when having to cancel his concert.

On July 25th, singer Psy announced that he would re-hold the “SUMMERSWAG2024” concert, which was originally scheduled on July 20th but then suspended on the spot due to heavy rain, on the 31st of next month.

SUMMERSWAG2024, which was held at Seoul Grand Park Parking Plaza in Gwacheon on July 20, was interrupted in the middle by heavy rain and lightning strikes. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds even caused a huge lighting device to fall on the stage.

“The ‘SUMMERSWAG2024-July 20 Gwacheon Concert’, which was inevitably suspended due to bad weather, will be held again on August 31 at the same venue,” Psy’s agency, P Nation, said in a statement on July 25th. “In order to keep the promise with the audience who came to the show with a lot of expectations, the artist, P Nation, and staff have quickly pushed and decided to re-hold the concert,” it said. “The audience can come to watch the concert without a separate reservation process.”

“The previously reserved seat rank, number, purchase, and ticket receipt will be kept the same,” P Nation explained. “Those who are unable to come to the concert can cancel the ticket through the Interpark Ticket website or customer center, and a full refund will be made for the canceled tickets.”

In addition to a response that puts fans first, there were more reasons why fans praised his problem-solving method. On July 20th, Psy openly revealed his feelings and measures for the canceled concert. The singer said, “The most important thing at that moment was the safety of the audience and the staff. Thank you very much for staying calm. I would like to express my gratitude to all of our staff members for doing their best to ensure everyone a safe return home, as well as the Gwacheon City Hall, the police station, the Seoul Grand Park, and all the relevant agencies.” He then summed up the situation by saying, “Everyone came all the way to the concert today with high expectations. However, due to unexpected weather conditions, I had no choice but to stop the performance. I was also upset to see the audience turn their back around. However, nothing was more important than the safety of the audience. Once again, thank you very much for your understanding.”

He gave refunds to all those who wanted to get a refund, and scheduled a re-concert for those who wished to attend. Fast identification and response of the situation, honest apology, and heartfelt response to fans are all everyone can say of Psy.

Meanwhile, a remark that Psy made on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” in May is drawing attention again. At the time, Psy said, “I don’t think of (concerts) as a ‘culture business’, I think it’s a ‘service business’. If you pay for that expensive ticket one day of the year, I want to make you the happiest in the world.” He showed his sincere attitude toward his fans.
