BTS’s Jungkook Proves Overwhelming Popularity By Placing 1st In ‘Most Popular Idol In Japan’

BTS member Jungkook received the most votes in the survey of “The Most Popular Idol in Japan” held by IDOL CHAMP

Mobile idol fandom app IDOL CHAMP conducted a vote on a global project called “The Most Popular Idol in Japan” from the 14th to the 28th of May. 

As a result, BTS’s Jungkook ranked No.1 with an overwhelming vote result of 39.07%. Following behind with big gaps were No.2 n.SSign’s Kazuta (18.99%), No.3 SHINee’s Taemin (10.77%), No.4 NiziU’s MAKO (9.37%), No.5 TXT’s Beomgyu (5.51%).

Recently, Jungkook was also announced as the most searched male idol on YouTube in 2024. Also, Jungkook was the only K-pop solo artist to appear in “Faces of 2023” chosen by 300,000 Japanese people, certifying his unrivaled presence and solid popularity in this country.

Jungkook has earned more than 100 million cumulative streams with his solo single “Seven” and received a Platinum certification from The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). The BTS member also won Song of the Year by Download in the Asian category at the 38th Japan Gold Disc Awards, earning an award at this award ceremony for the second consecutive year.

In the meantime, Jungkook also became the first and the only K-pop solo artist to rank No.1 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Japan with “Seven” (Explicit Ver.). His first solo album “GOLDEN” debuted at No.1 on Billboard Japan ‘Hot Album’ chart and topped the ‘Download Album’ chart. Upon its release, the album went straight to the top spot in Oricon Daily Album Chart with 205,961 copies.

In November last year, “GOLDEN” already exceeded 250,000 copies and got a Platinum certification from RIAJ.
