64-year-old actress Kim Young-ok, “I acted in ‘Squid Game’ without knowing what this drama is about”

Actress Kim Young-ok mentioned the popularity of “Squid Game”.

On the broadcast of KBS 2TV’s ‘Immortal Songs” aired on October 30th, Kim Young-ok appeared as a guest for the “Renowned Actors Special”.

Kim Shin-young introduced Kim Young-ok as the oldest actress in Korea who has 64 years of experience in acting. The MC added, “She’s the living history of Korea’s world of actors. She has played in many programs that were not only famous in Korea but also became well-known overseas, such as “Squid Game”, “Hometown Cha Cha Cha”, “Jirisan”, and “Young Lady and Gentleman”.”

Upon hearing that, Kim Young-ok said, “You’re so noisy” and expressed her embarrassment, saying, “I feel sorry for my colleagues”. Then, she shared, “Honestly, I received keen attention for playing Lee Jung Jae’s mother even though I didn’t appear much in the series. I didn’t even know what “Squid Game” was and wondered myself, ‘What drama is this?’.”

She continued, “However, I was completely surprised to hear that my appearance is enough to promote the prestige of our nation”. Then, she showed her passion for acting by saying, “Looking at my new script, I now want to say ‘This is me’. I have decided to trust people who give me any work. I’m happy that I have fallen in love with my characters.”
