62-Year-Old Actress Overcomes 32 Years of Husband’s Abuse, Battles Cancer, Now Finds New Love

Seo Jung Hee disclosed that her non-celebrity boyfriend stood by her side as she fought against breast cancer. The couple now co-owns a furniture design office in Gwangjin district, Seoul.

Seo Jung Hee opened up about their long-standing friendship, spanning 30 years, before blossoming into romance. In a heartfelt message, she clarified they haven’t tied the knot yet, emphasizing their bond as best friends who care for each other deeply with love and respect. Seo Jung Hee, once a prominent name in the Korean entertainment industry during the 1990s, made a life-altering decision to leave her successful career and marry a pastor and comedian, Seo Se Won. However, the marriage turned out to be a harrowing experience for the actress.

At 19, Seo Jung Hee faced sexual assault from Seo Se Won, leading to a forced marriage and 32 years of torment. Physical abuse and dehumanizing treatment characterized her life until she took legal action for freedom. In 2015, Seo Se Won received a sentence of 6 months in prison, suspended for 2 years.

In April 2022, Seo Jung Hee confirmed her battle with breast cancer at the age of 60. Overcoming the illness, she underwent surgery to remove her uterus and breast tumor. 

Fans expressed concern as they witnessed her public appearances, marked by frailty and fatigue, often with a wig. Currently, she has not only regained her health but also found a new love.
