Will this year’s Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Film be given to “Smugglers” or “Concrete Utopia”?
The 44th Blue Dragon Film Awards will take place at 8:30 p.m. KST on November 24th in Yeouido, Seoul. Kim Hye-soo and Yoo Yeon-seok will host the ceremony.
There are a total of 5 films nominated for the Best Film category, including ‘Smugglers,’ ‘Concrete Utopia,’ ‘Cobweb,’ ‘The Night Owl,’ and ‘Next Sohee.’
The Best Director Award promises a showdown between veterans and new directors. Kim Jee-woon, Ryu Seung-wan, Um Tae-hwa, Lee Han and Jung Joo-ri compete for the honor.
The New Director Award section is filled with promising figures leading the Korean film industry. Ga Sung-moon (Dream Palace), Kim Chang-hoon (Hopeless), Ahn Tae-jin, Yoo Jae-seon (Sleep), and Lee Sol-hee (Greenhouse) are nominated.
The nominees for Best Actor and Actress have also been revealed. The Best Actor category includes Do Kyung-soo (The Moon), Ryu Jun-yeol (The Night Owl), Song Kang-ho (Cobweb), Yoo Hae-jin (Honey Sweet), and Lee Byung-hun (Concrete Utopia).
The Best Actress category features Kim Seo-hyung (Vinyl House), Kim Hye-soo (Smugglers), Park Bo-young (Concrete Utopia), Yum Jung-ah (Smugglers), and Jung Yu-mi (Sleep) competing for the Blue Dragon trophy.
In the Best New Actor (Male) category, Kang Tae-joo (The Childe), Kim Seon-ho (The Childe), Lee Shin-young (Rebound), Choi Min-young (Dream Palace), and Hong Sa-bin (Hopeless) have been nominated.
The competition is also fierce for the Best New Actor (Female) category. Go Min-si (Smugglers), Kim Shi-eun (Next Sohee), Kim Hyeong-seo (Hopeless), Ahn So-yo (Vinyl House), and Ahn Eun-jin (The Night Owl) have been nominated.
The 44th Blue Dragon Film Awards will be broadcast live on KBS-2TV.
