1. Starring in many famous historical dramas

Whenever Jung Il Woo is mentioned, the public will immediately think of well-known historical dramas with his participation such as The Moon Embracing The Sun in 2012, Diary of a Night Watchman in 2014, and Haechi in 2019.

Jung Il Woo is exceptionally charming in dramas set in historical periods, which explains why the works he took part in always drew keen attention.

Among Jung Il Woo’s historical dramas, the most impressive one is The Moon Embracing The Sun. Although he did not take on the male lead role, Jung Il Woo’s character still left a good impression because of his mesmerizing affection for the female lead. He tries to protect the girl he loves even though he gets no response.

2. Playing princes and nobles

This is the main reason why we believe no one can suit the title of “historical drama prince” among Korean actors more than Jung Il Woo.

From The Moon Embracing The Sun to Diary of a Night Watchman, Haechi, Jung Il Woo continues to play a prince, whether it’s a leading or supporting character. In The Moon Embracing The Sun, Jung Il Woo plays Prince Yang Myung with a longing, unrequited love for Heo Yeon Woo. As for The Night Watchman, he has the opportunity to transform into a lady-killer prince Lee Rin. Even though he is a noble royal, he always likes to experience trivial pleasures.

Returning to Haechi in 2019, the actor once again made fans excited when he took on the role of Prince Yi Geum – a character possessing a temperament, talent and virtue above others.

3. Matching with historical outfits

One thing that is easy to see on the Korean screen is that a lot of actors only match with the modern setting and costumes. Meanwhile, Jung Il Woo almost has a good balance in both modern and historical concepts. Especially with historical projects, Jung Il Woo looks extremely attractive in traditional hanbok, exuding both dignity and the demeanor of a noble character.

From the ordinary clothes of the commoners to the royal and king’s garments, no matter what outfits he is in, Jung Il Woo will fit it all and exude the exact aura of the characters.

His demeanor when wearing the imperial robe is definitely second to none among male actors. Even just appearing in a hanbok costume on the hit variety show “Running Man” in promotion for the drama “Haechi ” with the cast, Jung Il Woo looked full of charm.

With the above three reasons, it is clear that no one can be more suitable with the title of “historical drama prince” on the Korean small screen like Jung Il Woo.

Let’s hope that he will return to the screen as soon as possible with a quality historical project so as not to leave fans longing.
