3 Korean Stars Who Were Sent To Mental Hospital By Their Family

These stars’ shocking confessions of being admitted to mental hospitals have caused public shock.

In the latest episode of KBS Joy’s variety show “Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller,” which aired on the 19th, American-Korean singer and member of the duo Togeworl Do Dae-yoon revealed that he was forced into a mental hospital.

Do Dae-yoon

“My mother forced me to be admitted to a mental hospital,” he shared. “I was so grateful when I started as a singer, but I always felt lonely being dragged around by something and being alone,” he said, confessing that he suffered from bipolar disorder. “I spoke in a more aggressive way (after I got bipolar disorder) than I did before. I started to act and talk recklessly. After that, I contacted my parents and told them about my difficult situation, and my mother came from the U.S. to take care of me, but I was not who I used to be,” he said, explaining about the situation.

“I received treatment at a mental hospital in Incheon for two months. But my condition got worse. I ate all three meals and took medicine at the hospital, but I just fell asleep all day long. It felt like I was treating myself with sleep, but I felt free because I had nothing to do.”

Hyun Jin-young

Singer Hyun Jin-young also suffered from forced hospitalization. In an episode of KBS 2TV’s “Mr. House Husband,” which aired last year, Hyun Jin-young appeared and confessed, “My wife sent me to a mental hospital.” “In 2002, my panic disorder and depression were severe,” Hyun said. “At that time, my wife sent me to a mental hospital on the day of my album’s release. Honestly, I felt bad then.” Hyun Jin-young’s wife said, “My husband made a lot of mistakes (from long time ago) because of his temperamental personality,” and added, “Now I am in charge of Hyun Jin-young’s training.”

Yuk Ji-dam

Rapper 6jidam was embroiled in a suspicion of mental illness in 2018. She kept posting reckless complaints about her agency CJ Entertainment and Wanna One Kang Daniel’s agency YMC Entertainment on her blog. She later revealed that he was diagnosed with depression. “I was admitted to a mental hospital for about a month because my father was worried about me. I did psychological and EEG tests, but the result turned out to be bipolar. I am truly sorry for causing inconvenience to many celebrities.”
