A remarkable story from China has captured global attention after a 25-year-old man, whose physical size resembles that of an infant, became an overnight internet sensation.
Standing at only 66 centimeters (approximately 2 feet 2 inches), Wang Junming is only slightly taller than a newborn baby. While such a height is considered normal for a five- or six-month-old child, it is extraordinarily rare for an adult in his mid-twenties.

Public interest in Wang’s life exploded after his 21-year-old sister, Xiaoling, began sharing videos documenting their daily routine on social media. Her posts quickly attracted more than 160,000 followers, drawing widespread curiosity and concern from viewers.
As attention grew, some viewers reached out to medical professionals, prompting Wang to undergo a detailed examination earlier this year. Doctors eventually diagnosed him with pituitary hormone deficiency, a condition that had gone untreated for most of his life.

According to endocrinologist Deng Chao from the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University in Changsha, Wang carries an abnormal POU1F1 gene mutation. The gene is critical for human growth and development, and defects in it are considered exceptionally rare. Medical literature suggests that only a little over one hundred cases have been documented worldwide.
Most individuals with this condition are identified during infancy or early childhood. With timely treatment, many patients can achieve more typical physical and cognitive development. Unfortunately, Wang was never able to receive consistent medical care during those crucial years.

Doctors reportedly estimate that his cognitive abilities remain comparable to those of a very young child. Although he was evaluated and prescribed medication in the past, his family struggled financially and could not afford long-term treatment. His father, who works in construction laying bricks, earns a modest monthly income that made ongoing care difficult.
Family circumstances also played a significant role in Wang’s life. During his childhood, his mother battled cancer, placing additional pressure on the household. Although she ultimately recovered, the experience led Xiaoling to become deeply involved in caring for her brother.

After graduating from nursing school, Xiaoling chose to remain in Changsha so she could continue supporting Wang. She currently works at a beauty clinic but has spoken about plans to start additional businesses, including a noodle stall and livestreaming activities, to help fund her brother’s medical expenses.
Wang is now receiving regular hormone therapy under medical supervision. While doctors remain cautiously optimistic, they acknowledge that predicting the long-term outcome is difficult. There is hope that treatment may improve both his mobility and cognitive function, but experts are uncertain whether his skeletal structure can support substantial physical growth at this stage.

Encouragingly, Wang has already shown signs of progress. Family members say he has become more responsive, recognizes his sister more consistently, and can identify or point toward familiar objects, including her mobile phone.
For years, Xiaoling worried about who would care for her brother in the future, even jokingly imagining that he might outlive generations of relatives. However, doctors have reassured the family that despite his unusual condition, Wang’s life expectancy is not necessarily shorter than that of the average person.
As his story continues to spread across social media, many viewers have expressed admiration for Xiaoling’s dedication and hope that increased public attention will help Wang access the medical care and opportunities he was previously denied.
