2 opposite types of romance in “Business Proposal”: Innocent and traditional lead couple vs intense and steamy second couple

The love stories of two “Business Proposal” couples attract the audience in different ways.

Business Proposal” is currently one of the most talked-about K-dramas in many countries around the world. The success of the drama is mostly thanks to the engaging romantic storylines of two couples Tae Moo – Ha Ri and Sung Hoon – Young Seo.

Sung Hoon – Young Seo: An urban love story that is modern and bold

Sung Hoon (Kim Min Kyu) and Young Seo (Seol In Ah) both fall in love at first sight with one another. If Sung Hoon keeps his distance, Young Seo does not hesitate to “make a move” when seeing her crush again.

The way the two get together is as quick and decisive as Young Seo’s fierce and straightforward personality. That’s when they get drunk and end up kissing and spending the night together. That steamy night is the chance for Sung Hoon and Young Seo to live true to their feelings and put aside past misunderstandings and complications in their relationship. The next morning when they wake up, they finally confess their feelings and start dating.

Sung Hoon and Young Seo represent many urban couples who are both busy with office life but still try to spend time together. Young Seo cooks and waits for Sung Hoon to go home from work, so they can have dinner together. She buys him food and stops by his company. They share a quick kiss in the parking lot. On the weekend, they go hiking together.

The romance between Sung Hoon and Young Seo is shown through ordinary things of life. Watching Sung Hoon and Young Seo happy in their own world, many couples in real life would find them relatable.

Tae Moo – Ha Ri: A love story between a boss and an employee, both traditional and soft

The story of the lead couple Tae Moo (Ahn Hyo Seop) and Ha Ri (Kim Se Jeong) feels more traditional and softer than the second couple. They have all the moments that are must-haves in the romantic comedy genre such as watching fireworks together, having a theme park date, Tae Moo renting the entire cinema to have a private date with Ha Ri, Tae Moo flexing how rich he is to make Ha Ri happy,… Their love may be unrealistic with obvious clichés, but since it is done in the right way, it is still charming and fun to watch.

To officially become a couple, the two overcome different misunderstandings and challenges. Destiny arranges for Tae Moo and Ha Ri to meet on a first date where Ha Ri disguises herself as Young Seo and acts like a femme fatale who is nothing like her usual self. When Tae Moo finds out about Ha Ri‘s real identity, he continues to express his feelings and wants Ha Ri to reciprocate. And at the end of episode 8, when Ha Ri finally opens her heart, the two share a sweet kiss as they mark the beginning of their relationship.

Giving off different vibes but having equal heart-fluttering levels, both the main and second lead couple are what make “Business Proposal” worth the watch. The drama airs every Monday and Tuesday evening on SBS and Netflix.
