Rolling Stone & Billboard Defend Stray Kids after Offensive Comments at 2024 MET Gala

After Stray Kids faced offensive comments at the 2024 MET Gala, foreign media Rolling Stone & Billboard defended the group.

On May 7 (Korean time), boy group Stray Kids made history as the 1st K-pop group to attend the MET Gala. However, when Stray Kids appeared on the red carpet, they had to face rude remarks from reporters at the scene, who implied racial discrimination intentions.

While Stray Kids’ leader – Bang Chan, handled the situation well, fans were extremely angry, not only expressing their frustration on SNS but even going as far as to hack the X account of one of the rude reporters.

At the same time, foreign media sites such as Rolling Stone and Billboard have come to Stray Kids’ defense.

Particularly, Rolling Stone UK has released an article where they called out the disrespectful photographers, at the same time praising Bang Chan for his “dad mode”

“Chan was in full dad mode, taking the lead on the red carpet interview with Tommy Hilfiger and graciously dealing with some disrespectful photographers at the event, before gathering his ducklings in a row to go and enjoy the evening”, Rolling Stone wrote, earning approval from Stray Kids fans.

Meanwhile, host TETRIS of Billboard News, who covered the 2024 MET Gala, directly criticized the photographers for being rude and racist, even using Japanese to speak to a K-pop group.

It seems that foreign media sites are actively defending Stray Kids against the rude comments.
