“Queen of Tears” Director Praises Kim Soo-hyun & Kim Ji-won, “I Really Respect And Love Them”

In a recent interview after tvN’s “Queen of Tears” ended, director Jang Young-joo talked about the drama production and behind-the-scenes stories as well as gave compliments to the actors who completed the project together with him.

Regarding his feelings about wrapping up the journey with “Queen of Tears”, the director shared, “Thanks to the writer’s interesting and meaningful story as well as the actor’s excellent acting, we really enjoyed the filming and relied on each other a lot. I think this combination of the writer, director and actor is amazing. Everyone worked hard together and I respected the writer and the actors even more after this project. I also want to sincerely thank the viewers who loved our drama”.

When asked if he realized the popularity of the drama, director Jang said, “I heard people around me say the drama was interesting”, adding “When I received the offer to work on ‘Queen of Tears’, I really liked the script about such a rare family story in this modern days. In addition, I got to co-direct the drama with director Kim Hee-won, whom I trusted and relied on the most and worked with so many great actors that I thought I should make a work that I would not be ashamed of. To be honest, I didn’t expect it to achieve such good results”.

The director said he focused on portraying the emotions of the characters in different stages of a married couple and complimented actors Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won. He said, “From the bottom of my heart, I love and respect Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won even more after working on this drama. Their acting performances were 10 out of 10. They have good personalities and get along very well with other actors and staff members”, adding “In particular, Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won showed amazing chemistry like a real couple despite their differences. I was so touched to see them wait for each other when they were having a hard time and listen to each other carefully”.

Director Jang Young-woo hoped the viewers feel the warm-hearted messages conveyed in “Queen of Tears” so that the drama could remain a good memory for them. Lastly, he thanked “Queen of Tears” fans, saying “I sincerely thank everyone who laughed and cried together with us for the past two months”.
