NewJeans “Left Out” of HYBE’s Schedule Amid Controversies?
The absence of NewJeans in an upcoming HYBE schedule featuring various affiliated artists has sparked speculations.
Recently, HYBE finalized the full lineup for its Weverse Con Festival 2024 scheduled for June. Weverse Con Festival is an annual music festival organized on a large scale to provide a unique and engaging experience for fans to connect with their idols.
As Weverse is a fan-idol interaction platform developed by HYBE, the Weverse Con Festival will always feature appearances by groups under HYBE.
Weverse Con Festival 2024 Line-up
The lineup for Weverse Con Festival 2024 is noteworthy, featuring top groups from HYBE such as SEVENTEEN, LE SSERAFIM, TXT, BOYNEXTDOOR, ENHYPEN, ILLIT, fromis_9, TWS, and &TEAM, alongside many other artists like 10CM, Kwon Eunbi, the “AI boy group” PLAVE, iconic Japanese duo YOASOBI, and many more.
Additionally, JYP founder Park Jin-young “and special guests” was mentioned as a “Tribut Artist”, showing the continued closeness of JYP and HYBE founder Bang Si-hyuk, which has lasted since before Big Hit was established.
Accordingly, this means that apart from BTS who is in military service, all groups under HYBE will perform at the Weverse Con Festival 2024, except for NewJeans.
As this lineup was announced in full amid the ongoing conflict between HYBE and NewJeans’ agency ADOR, there have been speculations that NewJeans was “left out”. In fact, NewJeans is known to have participated in the Weverse Con Festival 2023, making their absence this year even more suspicious.
With this latest development, most people are worried about the future of NewJeans, especially with rumors of the NewJeans members and their parents siding with Min Hee-jin instead of HYBE.
