Surrounded by continuous controversies, LE SSERAFIM has recently become the most criticized K-pop group at the moment
LE SSERAFIM is the first girl group that debuted under HYBE and they impressed the public with the nickname “BTS’s little sister”. Only in a short time after their debut, the 5-member girl group has gained many remarkable achievements. However, due to recent unpleasant issues, LE SSERAFIM has been facing a harsh backlash from Korean netizens.
The start of criticism – Coachella
At the beginning of 2024, everyone was very surprised to see LE SSERAFIM in the lineup for Coachella. Therefore, the girl group was expected to bring about legendary stages like their seniors 2NE1, BLACKPINK and aespa did. However, the Coachella performances eventually became the most embarrassing moments in the group’s career.
After performing only 2-3 songs, criticism over LE SSERAIFIM’s poor live singing skills already poured out on social media. Embarrassed by the girl group’s continuous cracks and bad singing skills, many Korean netizens complained, saying “Don’t call that performance ‘K-pop’”.

However, fans and netizens showed mixed responses when he uploaded the dance challenge video with LE SSERAFIM, a group from another label under HYBE, amid various issues in HYBE, from LE SSERAFIM’s poor singing skills to the internal conflict. In particular, during a broadcast in April, the youngest member of LE SSERAFIM looked gloomy and she did not show as many expressions as she did before. Knowing that she was affected by the criticism after Coachella, netizens believed her attitude as an MC was unprofessional. Some even asked Eunchae to withdraw from the MC position.
Netizens brought up controversies at Bruno Mars concert
In the middle of discussions about LE SSERAFIM’s controversies, some people re-examined when the girl group was criticized after attending Bruno Mars concert. Earlier in June 2023, Bruno Mars held a concert at Hyundai Card Super Concert 27 and attracted many K-pop stars to come and enjoy.
Back then, the video showing LE SSERAFIM entering the concert venue caused a big stir. Many people criticized the girls for not only coming late but also taking advantage of a big star’s concert to film content videos and gain attention.
Apart from those events, LE SSERAFIM was also mentioned in the conflict between their mother company HYBE and CEO Min Hee-jin of another label ADOR as the reason for the late debut of NewJeans.
Due to the mentioned controversies, LE SSERAFIM couldn’t celebrate their 2nd debut anniversary happily. They also became the K-pop girl group that is receiving the most criticism right now. As such, fans are hoping that the upcoming comeback will help the group fix their image and regain their honor.
