Netflix confirms the production plan and cast lineup for “Believer 2”: Ryu Jun-yeol drops out, Han Hyo-joo and Oh Seung-hoon join
Netflix will produce the sequel to movie “Believer”. The casting lineup including Cho Jin-woong, Cha Seung-won, Han Hyo-joo, Oh Seung-hoon, Kim Dong-young, and Lee Joo-young has also been unveiled.
On June 20th, Netflix said, “The production of ‘Believer 2’, the sequel to movie “Believer”, which heated up the theaters in 2018.”
Netflix also revealed the casting lineup for this project. “Believer 2” is a crime action movie that depicts the breathtaking war between Won-ho (Cho Jin-woong), who is still chasing the drug cartel run by Mr. Lee, and Rak (Oh Seung-hoon), who is still missing, as well as the reappearance of Brian (Cha Seung-won), and new character Big Knife (Han Hyo-joo).
Baek Jong-yeol of “Beauty Inside” will grab the megaphone for “Believer 2”. He is expected to create a work with a completely new charm that is different from the previous movie. “Believer 2” will portray the whereabouts of Rak, who disappeared after Brian was arrested, and Won-ho’s investigation into the truth behind an unknown drug cartel. It is expected to introduce more action scenes with an expanded scale.
Cho Jin-woong will appear as Won-ho, a tenacious detective who has been tracking the drug organization, while Cha Seung-won will return as Brian, who claimed to be Mr. Lee – the hidden figure of the organization. Following the previous movie, Kim Dong-young and Lee Joo-young will work together again as the deaf siblings Manko and Lona, who are talented drug cooks.
Above all, actress Han Hyo-joo and actor Oh Seung-hoon, who own unique individualities and solid acting skills, will join the cast. Han Hyo-joo, who is loved for her wide acting spectrum that includes melodrama, action, and comedy, will take on the role of the new character Big Knife, presenting the greatest character transformation in her filmography. Big Knife is a person who knows the truth about Mr. Lee, the boss of the drug cartel, and she will add more tension to the story by causing an unexpected crisis with her appearance.
Rak, the abandoned member of the cartel who helped Won-ho’s investigation, will be portrayed by Oh Seung-hoon, who has gained experience through various theater works and made a strong debut in the film industry by winning the Rookie of the Year Award at the 55th Daejong Award Film Award and the 27th Buil Film Award with the movie “Method”.
The unique synergy formed by the return of attractive characters and actors as well as the transformation of new actors is the main reason why “Believer 2” is anticipated.
“Believer 2” is a new work that will reveal the specialty of Yong Film, which has proved its planning power through works, such as “The Call”, “Lucky”, and “Beauty Inside”.
