Global Cyber University Refuted Involvement In Cult & Clarified False Information About BTS

Global Cyber University announced that they would take strong legal action against malicious rumors about the school

Recently, articles spread in online communities claiming that Global Cyber University is related to the religious meditation group Dahn World and BTS is also involved in the group as they graduated from this school.

Established in 2010 with authorization from the Ministry of Education, Global Cyber University provides four-year remote learning courses under the Higher Education Act. Graduates can obtain a full-time bachelor’s degree. It is legally and administratively separate from religious facilities and specific organizations. Also, the school does not carry out religious facilities and classes in the university.

However, some netizens still raised suspicions that Global Cyber University is related to Dahn World. Regarding the allegations surrounding six BTS members who graduated from the school spread by the media, Global Cyber University refuted them, saying “They entered Global Cyber University before their official debut as BTS and before they became this famous”.

Global Cyber University is the first and only remote university with a Broadcasting and Entertainment Department to strengthen the development of the Korean Wave in 2011. Suga was accepted to the university in March 2013, before BTS’s debut. At Suga’s recommendation, RM and J-Hope also started attending the school in 2014, V and Jimin joined in 2015 and lastly, Jungkook entered the school in 2017.

Global Cyber University said, “Since all the classes are conducted online, many officer workers are also studying at our school. There are also many celebrity students”, adding “Please refrain from spreading negative rumors about celebrity students who entered the school based on their own will as well as their devotion to their studies and careers”

The school continued, “Our school is currently collecting evidence to take strong legal action against those who distribute malicious videos and posts”, adding “We would like to inform you that we will not tolerate any posts that undermine the efforts and honor of our school, students and alumni as well as posts with misinformation about the effort and honor of our school staff who have worked so hard for the education and welfare of students over the past 14 years”.

Earlier on the 29th, HYBE explained the suspicions that the company was related to a cult. On the same day, they released a notice via BTS’s Weverse account, announcing plans to sue malicious commenters and those who spread rumors against the artists, false information, indiscriminate insults and slander without leniency and mercy.
