BABYMONSTER’s Fanpage Sparked Outrage for Insulting BLACKPINK’s Jennie

Fans of BLACKPINK’s Jennie are extremely pissed about a comment made by a BABYMONSTER’s major fanpage.

On the evening of May 8 (KST), a major BABYMONSTER fanpage on SNS platform X (formerly Twitter) came under fire for insulting BLACKPINK’s Jennie.

Specifically, underneath a post sharing images of Jennie at the 2024 MET Gala, the BABYMONSTER fanbase “for BABYMONSTER”, which has nearly 42 thousand followers, commented “Jennie sucks”, along with a barfing emoji..

This comment immediately caught attention and infuriated the BLACKPINK fan community, prompting them to demand a public apology from this fanbase to Jennie.

Immediately after the controversy erupted, “for BABYMONSTER” quickly spoke up on their personal page with a long message.

In particular, the fanpage said, “Hello, we are ‘forBABYMONSTER’ team. We  would like to sincerely apologize for our controversial tweet towards Jennie in one of BLACKPINK fanbase posts. Our team was unaware of who replied with that message, and we want to clarify that there has been suspicious activity on our account.”

According to the fanpage, at around 2 AM the day before, someone changed their password, so their main administrator immediately changed the password again. They also added that none of the administrators in the Philippines use an iPhone, but there was a suspicious login from an iPhone about 45 minutes before the tweet insulting Jennie was posted.

Finally, the fanpage attached several screenshots as evidence for their “suspicious activity” claim, and expressed their apologies to Jennie and her fans.

“Currently, we are trying our best to resolve the issue, but despite changing the password multiple times, someone other than the administrators can still access our account. We deeply apologize for this inconvenience. In the future, we will be more careful when creating or responding to posts about BABYMONSTER or other artists”, they also said.

Although there was an immediate response and explanation about the comment, this apology from ‘for BABYMONSTER’ has not been able to appease fans of BLACKPINK. Most opinions believe that the “hacked account” scenario is an outdated excuse,

Currently, the issue is still a topic of debate on X, and ‘for BABYMONSTER’ has locked (or deleted) their account after strong reactions from BLACKPINK fans.
