aespa competes head-on with NewJeans “Reason for interest in comeback date”

aespa (Karina, Winter, Giselle, Ningning) is scheduled to return to the music scene on May 27th with the release of their first full-length album “Armageddon”.

Prior to the album release, aespa plans to pre-release the double title track “Supernova” of “Armageddon” on May 13th.

aespa’s first full-length album contains a total of 10 songs, including “Supernova” and “Armageddon”.

Expectations are particularly high for this album as it marks aespa’s first full-length album release in four years since their debut in the music industry in 2020.

Furthermore, attention was drawn to aespa after ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin mentioned them during a press conference held on April 25th.

On that day, Min Hee-jin revealed the contents of a KakaoTalk message exchange between her and HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk.

According to the disclosed messages, Bang Si-hyuk asked “(Your group) can step on aespa, right?“, to which Min Hee-jin replied, “Hahaha.”

Min Hee-jin explained during the press conference, “I found it absurd, so I responded with ‘Hahaha’.” She added, “I’m not the type of person to step on others.”

After the content of the message was made public, many netizens paid attention to it and even turned it into a meme.

In addition, aespa is set to make a comeback just three days apart from NewJeans. NewJeans’ new album “How Sweet” will be released on May 24th.

Ahead of the album release, NewJeans pre-released the music video for the track “Bubble Gum” today (April 27th).

Interestingly, after the content of the messages exchanged between Min Hee-jin and Bang Si-hyuk was revealed, aespa and NewJeans are now set to compete against each other.

aespa made a strong debut in 2020 with “Black Mamba”. After that, they released hit songs like “Next Level”, “Savage”, “Spicy” and “Drama”.

NewJeans debuted in 2022 and received much love with hit songs such as “Attention”, “Hype Boy”, “Super Shy” and “ETA”.
