YG unfollowed Mnet after this station treated iKON unfairly at Kingdom

A day before the results were announced, the representative of iKON took action to please the fans.

On the evening of April 22, episode 4 of Mnet’s Kingdom officially aired.  Before the premiere of the new episode, Mnet quickly released a post preparing to announce the rankings of the teams.  However, iKON’s official Twitter suddenly unfollowed Mnet.

The reason for this action comes from the fact that Mnet did not fair-play in calculating the points for 6 groups.

Initially, The Boyz, iKON, BTOB performed on the evening of April 8 and Stray Kids, ATEEZ, and SF9 performed on the evening of April 15.  However, after the stage videos of Stray Kids, ATEEZ, and SF9 were posted on YouTube, Mnet suddenly announced that it would calculate the viewpoints after performance videos of Stray Kids, ATEEZ, and SF9 were uploaded.  This makes fans of The Boyz, iKON, and BTOB extremely angry.  They think that this is not fair to the groups that performed first because the viewpoints are only counted from April 15.

If the other 5 groups accepted and kept quiet, the iKON side from YG’s management company would have acted harshly.  They unfollowed Mnet as a response to the station’s unprofessional way of working.  However, many fans worry because it has been very difficult for Mnet and YG to make up after a long time.  Especially in the near future, Lisa (BLACKPINK) will make a solo debut.

Mnet and YG have had a bad relationship for a long time, and it was not until the beginning of this year that there were signs of healing.  So TREASURE and Rosé (BLACKPINK) had promoted on M! Countdown.  So if YG once again fights against Mnet, it is very likely that Lisa will find it difficult to promote on M! Countdown.  YG artists will also continue not to attend MAMA later this year.
