A look behind-the-scenes and into the production of the program reveal the recipe for its success.
According to FlixPatrol, ‘Physical: 100” is currently a sensational survival show that is working its way to the top of global TV shows in only half a month after its first airing. The show is currently at the top of 38 countries, second in 15 countries and third in 11 countries.
New rules reminiscent of “Squid Game”
“Physical: 100” is the first survival series in Korea about physical competition among 100 contestants to find out the “best body” and win a prize of 300 million won. According to the rule, each participant will have a carved statue of themselves that will be destroyed in case of elimination.
The presented rule sounds much like “Squid Game,” a hit series about 456 contestants competing for an enormous prize money, explaining why “Physical: 100” is often alluded as the “real-life Squid Game.”
The 100 contestants also draw attention for not taking into consideration their gender, occupation, age, nationality and only acknowledgs their physique. Though different in background and starting points, the participants share the ambition to win the ultimate prize.
Despite the harsh and competitive nature of the program, participants always strive to be accepting of the results and respectful of their rivals.
Captivating contestants
The particiants of “Physical: 100” are not only physically attractive but also visually stunning.
Cha Hyun Seung was a familiar face from “Single’s Inferno” season 1 who has shown remarkable strength that could not be looked down on. He is still a compelling element of the series at present.
Kim Kyung Jin was also a charming indiviual despite his early elimination. Before working in agriculture, Kyung Jin was a sought-after personal trainer that appeared on SBS and KBS’ programs.
Hwang Ji Hun (“Agent H”), former UTL/SEAL, was also praised for looking like on-screen heartthrobs in action-packed series.
Among the female contestants, Shim Eu Ddeum was a “lucky” girl who was previously noticed by J-Hope (BTS).
Breath-taking challenges
The challenges and actions of each episode is the selling point of the program. To rank individuals, the show started with a pull-up challenge, followed by westling matches on sand to pick out the strongest 50. With each new episode, the contestants are faced with an even harder set of challenges, one of which is pulling a 1.5-ton-heavy ship.
With a realistic and detailed viewpoint, the show is able to capture the true intensity of the show while steering clear of dramatizing the on-screen elements.
Thoroughly invested space
The space of the show is another successful point, one that can capture the attention of the audience and the contestants amazed.
No matter how harsh the challenges can be, the health of participants are at top priority. The staff does not forget to prepare full-course meals for the contestants and winners.
