The long list of TWICE and SEVENTEEN’s overlapped comebacks made fans half-jokingly wonder if JYP and Pledis had sat down to make plans together.
When it comes to TWICE and SEVENTEEN, many K-pop fans will think of them as popular idol groups that debuted in 2015 (TWICE debuted in October while SEVENTEEN debuted in May) and have been on the top of the third generation. However, the similarities between TWICE and SEVENTEEN are more than that because the two groups have frequently made overlapped comebacks (in the same month or on the same day) that surprised even fans.
We should mention “Cheer Up” and “Pretty U” as the beginning of this exciting relationship as both songs were released on April 24, 2016.
Then, “Don’t Wanna Cry” and “Signal” were published in May 2017. Specifically, TWICE’s “Signal” was pre-released on May 15, while “Don’t Wanna Cry” by SEVENTEEN was revealed one week later on May 22.
This was followed by a series of “encounters” that took place regularly over the years. “Oh My” and “Dance The Night Away” were released in July 2018 with only 1 week apart (“Dance The Night Away” on July 9, “Oh My” on July 16). “Fear” (16th) and “Feel Special” (23rd) were also exactly 1 week apart when they were released in September 2019.
In 2020, TWICE and SEVENTEEN even had the same comeback schedules twice. “More & More” (1st) and “Left & Right” (22nd) were released in June 2020; while “Home;Run” (19th) and “I Can’t Stop Me” (26th) came out in October 2020, continuing one-week distance.
The “clash” between TWICE and SEVENTEEN continued until this year and it seems that there is no sign of stopping. TWICE’s “Alcohol-Free” was released on June 11, 2021, while SEVENTEEN’s “Ready to Love” was issued a week later on June 18.
Most recently, TWICE has just released the English single “The Feels” on October 1, while SEVENTEEN’s “Attacca” has been scheduled to be revealed on October 22, 2021. In addition, “Attacca”, with the concept trailer “Rush Of Love”, will also be released shortly before TWICE’s 3rd full album “Formula of Love: O+T=<3” which is expected to be published on November 12.
The long list of coincidences made TWICE and SEVENTEEN fans half-jokingly say that JYP and Pledis had a “hidden deal” with each other for the interesting relationship between two groups. It leads to the extent that whenever TWICE or SEVENTEEN announced their comeback plans, the other group’s fans were excited because their idols would return within the same month.
