Every year, media outlet JoyNews 24 holds a survey with 200 industry insiders to rank the most outstanding actors and actresses of the year. In 2022, 6 faces have been named for their achievements and influences, and below is the full rankings:
Top 6: Lee Jung Jae – 6 votes
While “Squid Game” was released in late 2021, the impact of this Netflix series has not reduced at all in 2022. Playing the main character of “Squid Game”, Lee Jung Jae showed an astounding performance and earned huge popularity on a global scale. The actor also swept up numerous awards both in and outside of Korea, and his international reputation has reached a whole new level.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise to see Lee Jung Jae as a part of the list. Now, anticipation is higher than ever for the actor’s next project.
Top 5: Hwang Jung Min – 7 votes
In 2022, Hwang Jung Min starred in two acting projects – with a guest role in the cinematic movie “Hunt” and a major role in the web drama “Nacro-Saints”. The actor garnered vast popularity with his role in “My Liberation Notes” as a grumpy middle-aged man with hidden sophistication, empathy and encouragement for others. Son Seok Gu attracts viewers with his personality rather than surface appearances.
Kim Tae Ri hit a home run this year. She made a comeback after 5 years with the drama “Twenty Five Twenty One” in the first quarter of 2022. She managed to put on a convincing and enticing performance as a 17-year-old sunny, optimistic and straightforward teenage girl despite being a woman in her early 30s. Her character embodies the journey of youth for passion and dream.
Her performance brought her ‘Best Actress’ of the ‘Baeksang Arts Awards’ in 2022, deserving the top 2 of the ranking.
Top 1: Park Eun Bin – 118 votes
Park Eun Bin at last has her lifetime role after many long years in the industry, topping the chart with “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”.
