Famous names like Jennie, Irene, Cha Eunwoo, V are all on the list of most sought-after idols by young Koreans.
On October 9, Naver announced the list of the top 10 most searched idols by young Koreans on this largest Korean social networking site in 2021. The data is collected on both the Naver app for mobile devices and computers from January to September 2021. The announced results surprised many Kpop fans.
Top most-searched male idols
Fans are not surprised by the ranking of the ten hottest male idols. Accordingly, Cha Eunwoo came out on top of the list. He was busy in creative endeavors in 2021, when he starred as the male lead in the popular drama “True Beauty,” while also reuniting with ASTRO for the second full album “All Yours” and some personal promotional activities.
Eunwoo’s hard work and efforts have paid off when, thanks to True Beauty, he became one of the hottest male idols in Korea, continuously ranking high on monthly brand value charts. In addition, thanks to Eunwoo’s popularity, ASTRO’s album achieved great success with sales of 281.9 thousand copies in the first week, 4 times higher than the group’s old record.
Following Eunwoo are two names familiar to the Kpop fan community – V (BTS) in 2nd place and Baekhyun (EXO) in 3rd place. The appearance of V and the BTS members on the list is not too surprising as 2021 is an explosive year for BTS as their hit Butter dominates the Korean music charts and even takes the top spot on Billboard for weeks.
Baekhyun, EXO’s “fan-attractor,” has only a few activities in 2021, yet his position in the top three makes many fans pleased. Specifically, this year, Baekhyun just returned as a solo artist with the album Bambi at the end of April, then returned with EXO on June 7, but he has “pocketed” a series of outstanding personal and group accomplishments. Despite he enlisted in the middle of this year, Baekhyun’s name is constantly “hot.”

This demonstrates that Irene’s allure has not waned despite her hiatus for over a year following her attitude scandal. It can be seen that, even though she has passed the age of 30, Irene has captured many people’s hearts with her gorgeous and noble beauty since Red Velvet’s comeback with Queendom.
And, as predicted, Jennie and Rosé are the two hottest names in Korea, with exceptionally high search traffic on Naver. Jennie, in particular, was ranked #1 despite the fact that she has not had a solo comeback in almost three years and the group has not shown any signs of making a comeback this year.
Rosé’s second-place result is reasonable given her highly successful solo debut with her first album -R- and the title song “On The Ground.”
